Waldprechtsweier...

I am planning a genealogical trip to Waldprechtsweier. Are there any B%26amp;B%26#39;s there? Any good moderately priced hotels in Malsch or Waldprechtsweier? Changing the subject considerably, does anyone know of any old catholic cemeteries in Waldsprechtsweier? Thanks so much...

I had to look up Waldprechtsweier first, I confess...

There seem to be some private accommodations and B%26amp;Bs in Malsch, the list also has one entry in Waldprechtsweiler, named %26quot;Gästehaus im Waldprechtstal%26quot; (phone 07246-8459 or 6110). No idea if it%26#39;s any good...

If you read German, here is the website: http://www.malsch.de/gemeindeinfo/index.html - click %26quot;Tourismus%26quot;, then %26quot;Unterkünfte%26quot;, then it asks some search criteria. Bit complicated. Unfortunately it does not allow me to post the exact link to the accommodation list.

If you want to stay in a town that has a little more to offer, I%26#39;d suggest Ettlingen.

Further, contact the catholic parish in Malsch:

Kath. Pfarramt Malsch

Pfarrer Thomas Dempfle

Kirchplatz 7

76316 Malsch

phone 07246-4019

fax 07246-5872

Old cemeteries are unlikely to exist. Usually graves are taken away after 25 or 30 years. But you never know...

If you plan genealogy research in the church registers, you have to contact the archive of the diocese in Freiburg. They collect microfilm copies of all church registers - the originals in the parishes are not handed out any more for conservation reasons. Research there requires

a) being able to read old German HANDwriting (a problem not to be underestimated, at least 95% of all Germans would fail)

b) making an appointment well in advance. The archive owns only five microfilm readerprinters and is usually booked solid. They say 4-6 weeks, from experience I recommend making a reservation 3 months in advance.

Erzbischöfliches Archiv Freiburg

Postfach

79095 Freiburg i.Br.

fax: 0761 / 2188-439

I got married in Malsch a few years ago and my family all stayed in nearby Waldprechtsweier: http://www.hotel-standke.de/, which was a beautiful hotel and very reasonably priced.
