in or out?

hihi friends we will be arriving in rothenburg with a rental car from stuttgart we would like to stay within the town walls but if we have to park outside how do carry our baggage to the hotel? if we stay in a hotel outside do we have to take a taxi? we will only be staying there for one night thanks

It%26#39;s normally possible to stop there or not far from your hotel for unloading. No difference to what a taxi can/will do. Afterwards you can park your car where this is possible/allowed. Thus mostlikely outside the town walls.

Rothenburg is small. If you stay outside the walls, you will not need a taxi to enter the town.

Check with your hotel if you stay within the walls, you may be able to drive in and drop off your luggage or even park. I know that there were a few parking spots at the Gasthof Greifen when I stayed there.

We have light luggage and have carried it from the train station into town a couple times. That is well beyond the large parking lots just outside the wall.

Regards, Gary

Greifen has its own parking place, not supervised, but not a problem. You can get to it easily if you use their map- which they%26#39;ll send.

Spitzweg also has a park place- you use your room key to access your car when the gate is shut.

You can enter town through Galgentor, drive down the cobbled stret and then throw a left. Then follow the only available road. Go slow!
