Need Help With Lodging/Activities

hi all!

i am in the beginning phase of planning a 7 night stay in bavaria for my family of 9...we would like to stay in an area that has access to many of the sights...i will be honest i am not even sure exactly of all the sights to see in the munich area yet...we would of course like to go to fussen to see the castle and are interested in checking out some small towns, other castle sights, nature activities etc...we will only travel by public transport (bus/rail/walking) as we cannot get a car big enough for all of us...if you could please advise in which town we should stay in (hopefully we can find a big villa for rent) so we are central to some great activities and tell us which activities are %26quot;not to miss%26quot;...thanks so much in advance!!

Hi,

if you want to rent a flat (Ferienwohnung) it would be the best to look at the smaller towns attached to Munich. Be aware that if you want to go to Füssen or any other location that you first have to get from the suburbs to central station (about 45 minutes).

You might consider a farm stay, in a furnished apartment on a farm in Bavaria. Some of them are near train stations in the smaller towns.

Munich has alot to see and the train can take you to places like Chiemsee and Fussen, in about an hour. Just keep in mind Munich is expensive but it does have acess to many Bavarian towns/cities. You can even see the Eagle%26#39;s nest in Obersalzburg or see salzburg if your willing to spend around 3 hours on the train, sorry but been a while since i went. I stayed in Fussen for 4 nights when traveling trough Bavaria and was not disappointed, I was even able to beat the crowds to the castle since it opens an hour befor the trains arrive from the surrounding areas.
