On a trip with a few sensible lads in early September.
Appreciate some guidance regarding the best area to book hotel in, whats the best beer garden to spend the day in %26amp; the best spots for the evenings entertainment ?
Not much to ask i know but any help gratefully received!!

eye: Best spot to stay would be in the City Center area. Try the Hotel Eder or Hotel am Viktualienmarkt, etc. Take a taxi or train to the Schwabing Club district at night... Many clubs there to choose from!
Best beer garten? If it is still warm (Early Sept.) - try the Englischer Garten, and/or Seehaus.

Sorry, the Chinescher Turm (Chinese Tower) is a good beer garten in warm climate. I also love the Augustiner Keller..

How far away is the Schwabing area - is it worth staying there if thats the best place to spend the evenings ?

I agree eith Sunskin re location, also Blauer Bock, Torbrau etc. anywhere bear Marienplatzand Viktualienmarkt is the area to stay.
The big beer gardens are great as described, but also Viktualienmarkt with it%26#39;s food and beer garden is a great place to spend many hours in a group and it%26#39;s bang in the middle of old town, Aldstadt where we suggest you stay.
Schwabing? You can get there on UBahn in 3 or 4 stops from Marienplatz. No need to stay there. Schwabing has changed a lot over the years IME, it%26#39;s not as good as it used to be, and a lot of the scene seems to be closer to Odeonsplatz around the Maxvorstadt area, closer still to Marienplatz and walkable if you%26#39;re fit. Hopefully a resident will confirm what%26#39;s happening there.
Depending on your ages, the best nightlife area is just away in Kunstpark, it%26#39;s a huge industrial looking complex, full off clubs and bars. Again a Ubahn from Marienplatz or Isator, it%26#39;s not too far, just 3 or 4 stops I think but I can%26#39;t recall the stop, a while since I%26#39;ve been, someone here will if you are interested in this park.

P.S. Another bonus of staying in Aldstadt, so many great places with outside seating for a few beers and people watching, a crawl aound the old town in nice weather is great and recommended. Keep moving on, you%26#39;ll love it.

The Kunstpark is at the station Ostbahnhof, a hub where you have Tams, S-Bahn and subway.
Schwabing is history, the east of Munich is where the action is.
