Travel

Arriving in Munich at 1PM on a Thursday. What is the cheapest, most efficient ticket to buy for me and my wife to Marienplatz Station? Would it be the Bayern Ticket? (S8 S1 Either one).

Thanks

Cheapest is a MVV partner day ticket for EUR 18,00. This is a mini group (2-5 persons) day ticket covering all local public transport in the MVV (Greater Munich) area. It is valid from the time of validation (stamping) till 6am next day. It covers

- regional trains (RB, RE, ALX, BOB)

- S-Bahn

- U-Bahn (metro)

- trams

- buses

You can buy it from ticket machines at the airport. The MVV ticket machines at the airport (and only there) accept credit cards.

Thank you.

So, I can get me and my wife in from the airport to Marienplatz and use the same ticket for the remainder of the day until 6AM the next day. Are there zone restrictions? Seems like airport is far away?

For travel from the airport - Marienplatz you will need to get the ticket for 4 zones mvv-muenchen.de/web4archiv/objects/download/…

Airport - Marienplatz is the furthest distance you can go on the system so yes, the ticket will be valid for the remainer of the day until 6am whereever you go.
