Flights on Germanwings via Cologne (4½ hours) can be less than EUR 100 if you book early.

Cheaper by train.
Buy in Munich a Bavaria-Bohemia Ticket. This ticket covers all regional trains inside Bavaria and the Bavarian/Czech border region (till Plzen/Pilsen on this route). It covers furthermore all local public transport in Munich (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses).
Validity
Mo-Fr from 9am till 3am next day
Sa,Su from midnight till 3am next day
The trains from Munich to Prague are all regional trains - thus no restriction on this.
Bavaria-Bohemia Ticket Single (1 person) EUR 22,00
Bavaria-Bohemia Ticket (2-5 persons) EUR 32,00
Just buy this ticket from ticket machines in Munich. It%26#39;s always available.
Buy from the Czech conductor a ticket for the remaining part from Plzen/Pilsen to Prague. Ticket price is CZK 145 (~ EUR 6) pp. Plus a small service fee for buying on board. The Czech conductor will come in Furth im Wald on board. Best to get some CZK (Czech Republic Koruny) beforehand to pay him.
DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: Munich airport
From: Munich
To: Prague
and select as means of transport %26quot;without ICE/IC/EC%26quot; if you plan to use the Bavaria-Bohemia Ticket.
Thus in total the rail option is for
1 person ~ EUR 30
5 persons ~ EUR 10 pp
and this option always available. No advanced booking required.

Thank you so much to you both. The information is very much appreciated

Hi, did you go by Prague by train? I need to go, and I am wondering how to use the bavarian-bohemian ticket...
Tks.
|||
Hi,
Just to confirm. I%26#39;m looking at a non-stop train from Munich to Prague, 1643H to 2230H.
So it would be cheaper if I purchase Bavaria-Bohemia Ticket and the 6 euro tickets from the conductor? Would this still be possible considering that my train is non-stop?
Cheers
|||
It%26#39;s a direct train, not a non-stop train.
But yes, the combination of Bavaria-Bohemia-Ticket and normal price Czech domestic ticket will work.
If you travel on 2 tickets it%26#39;s just important that
a) their combination covers the whole route
(in this case Munich - Pilsen/Plzen and Pilsen/Plzen - Prague)
b) that they are valid on their part of the toure

Hi
I would also like to travel from munich to prague, so when i search the schedule , my destination is plzen? It takes around 4 hour? I am a bit confused. Do i need to change or it goes direct to prague?
|||
%26gt; would also like to travel from munich to prague, so when i search the schedule , my destination is plzen?
No. Your destination is Prague.
It%26#39;s just the cheapest way to use 2 tickets for this trip. Bavaria-Bohemia Ticket for Munich to Plzen/Pilsen and a normal ticket bought from the conductor for Plzen/Pilsen to Prague.
Again: it%26#39;s just about tickets
You don%26#39;t have to do anything in Plzen/Pilsen. Just stay seated.
