Request: U-Bahn Annoucements

My partner and I had an awesome time during our March visit to Berlin and definitely look forward to going back soon!!!

Now I have an odd request for all the locals of Berlin. I am looking for the actual wordings in German for the U-Bahn annoucements made prior to the doors closing. It starts off and ends sorta like this (and please forgive me if I get any of it wrong) %26quot;Eine stigen bitte ... Zuruck sie ...%26quot; I%26#39;m hoping to use the phrase as part of my photojournal book I%26#39;ve complied based on our trip.

Less common. More polite. But you cannot translate this difference in politeness into English, i.e. the translation is the same as above.

%26#39;Zurückbleiben bitte!%26#39; (%26#39;Please stay (stand) back!%26#39; (of the closing doors))

It is funny how these u-bahn announcements can have such a memorable impact! - I only speak a bit of German and my partner speaks none at all but even he quotes the train announcements %26quot;Einsteigen bitte!%26quot; etc - usually when we are back in London, sitting on a tube train here. :-)

I agree with you Vampy, Houston has a dinky light rail line and I also have imagine the Berlin annoucements along with the Munich S-Bahn annoucements %26quot;Nächster halt%26quot;.

We used the U Bahn quite a bit during our trip to Munich last October. Most of the trains had the automated announcements but on one it was clearly the driver doing live announcements and boy did he sound fed up!! The difference between the 2 almost made us laugh out loud.

Oh yes and they even told you which side of the train to get off!! Just in case there was any doubt:-)

On the Berlin U-Bahn, the side on which to alight is announced only if you must disembark on the right-hand side in the direction of travel, thus:

%26#39;Ausstieg rechts%26#39;

On the Berlin S-Bahn, the side of disemarkation is announced at every stop, whether left or right.

On some lines you will also get %26quot;Bitte beachten Sie beim Aussteigen die Lücke zwischen Zug und Bahnsteigkante!%26quot; which is, effectively, %26quot;Mind the gap!%26quot;
