Hey - I%26#39;m heading to Berlin for 3 nights with my boyfriend in Feb, and am trying to pick a hotel. My biggest concern is location - I%26#39;d like to be near tourist attractions (Brandenberg Gate, etc). I%26#39;m having problems getting my head around the layout of the city.
Anyway, at the moment my choices are: The Kempinski Hotel, the Hotel Palace and the Concorde. These appear to be the most reasonably priced 5 star hotels, but I%26#39;d be happy enough in a good 4 star if it had a gorgeous location.
Any advice for me?!

All of these hotels are good but not within walking distance of the main attractions, but Berlin is huge and in any case you will have to commute to see many sites. The Palace Hotel has a bus-stop for the 100/200 buses just on its doorstep.
Some four stars that are closer to the attractions:
- NH Mitte, NH Jolly
- Melia
- Arcotel Velvet
- Park Inn

Hi,
try the Mercure Checkpoint Charlie, we have been there last December and we liked it very much. Quiet, close to public transportation, nice peole and LARGE rooms

Why I prefer the area where Hotel Palace is..We usually stay at a 3 star hotel on Olivaer Platz...for price..its within walking distance to Europa Center..granted its maybe 20 minutes walk..
We prefer the Kudamm and Europa Center...as we can easily take the U bahn or a bus to most any other place in the city ...but we enjoy Kudamm/ Europa center area.. for night life...and for the afternoons at outdoor cafes...and people watching...my choice would be Hotel Palace if I were willing to pay the price
