We are 2 couples (seniors) and will be spending August 26 $ 27 in Schwangau or Fussen. Most accommodations do not seem to have a/c. Will that be important at that time of the year? I am just starting the planning and am flexible about the actual location. We will be driving from the Zugspitze area, spending two nights specifically to see the castles, then on to Zurich.
I could use some comments about both the need for a/c and hotels/guesthauses... we want to stay in the 90-100 euro per night range.
Thanks to all

Most accommdations have no a/c because it%26#39;s not really important at all.
Füssen lies approx. 800 m above sea level. End of August the night temperatures will normally fall already considerably below 10°C.
And daytime temperatures over 25°C are unlikely.

Thank you. This is our first trip to Germany, and we are anxiously expecting a great trip. The trip advisors are always a wonderful %26amp; helpful source of information.

We stayed at the Guesthouse Weiher in Hohenschwangau two years ago and can recommend it. Once all the tourist buses leave in the evening, the town is very quiet. We could sit on the balcony at night, looking at the castle and listening to the cowbells. The Weiher isn%26#39;t fancy but was clean and comfortable, although we did have to climb a flight of stairs to our rooms. The owner speaks only a tiny bit of English but that was not a problem. We paid about 25 Euros per person per night. You can see pictures at www.hotel-ami.de/16623/ .

We spent 4 days in Munich August of 2003 when it was so hot, it hit 40*C every day. Our hotel didn%26#39;t have A/C and we made it fine as the evenings cooled off nicely. However, I had to spend most days in the biergartens or the bier halles to get by. I let the younger ones in our party do the sight seeing. You can do it!
