Day ticket for Dusseldorf & Cologne

Hi

We%26#39;ll reach Dusseldorf on 21st Feb 2009 at around 10 AM and at around 3 PM we%26#39;ll go to cologne.

Now i would like to know is one day ticket valid for both Cologne and Dusseldorf ? Will we be able to use

all public transportation in cologne and Dusseldorf with the day ticket and if so then what%26#39;s the price for 2 ?

Is there any offer during weekend ? In brussels we need only 1 ticket for both of us during weekend.

Thanks in advance.

Yes.

VRS/VRR TagesTicket 5 Personen

EUR 27,50

A mini group (2-5 persons) day ticket.

Covers the trams and buses in both cities. Plus the regional trains (RB, RE) and S-Bahn trains between both cities.

%26gt; Is there any offer during weekend ?

No. Such an offer exists at some places in Germany (e.g. Nuremberg) but not within the VRS/VRR tariff system.

Thanks Abalada,

I think if we buy single train ticket to cologne then the cost will be 20 Euro for 2 person !

We are planning to see cologne on foot. But now I%26#39;m confused for Dusseldorf...is it possible to see on foot ?

I have read somewhere that price of a single ticket within the city is 2.2 Euro %26amp; valid for 2 hours ? Is that true ?

What do you suggest ? Should I go for day ticket or point to point ticket ?

2 x EUR 9,60

No bigger than Cologne.

Yes. But it%26#39;s not a 2 hours ticket. It is valid to reach your destination but at maximum for 2 hours.

Round or return trips are not covered. Basically you can move only 2 hours steadily away from your start point. That%26#39;s the time you may need from one remote corner of Düsseldorf to the other end of Düsseldorf.

Hi Lee

We were in Cologne and Dussledorf last month. Both Cologne and Dusseldorf are very easy to move around by foot, but if you are there for a short time and want to get around faster the metros are brilliant.

The cost of the train from Dusseldorf to Cologne (one way) was 6.50euro person and included 24hour free travel on metros in Cologne and Dusseldorf from when it was validated.

Sorry - I also meant to add - instead of getting your tickets from the self service machines, go to the tickets office - they will be able to advise you on the best and most cost effective tickets.

We were going to by over 9 euro in the selfservice machines, but decided to check with the ticket office first. There we discovered the cheaper fare and the fact the ticket covered us for travel for 24 hours.
