Need good reasonable Gasthof near Munich airport.

I don%26#39;t want one of those expensive ones that

are right near or at the MUC airport. We have

to turn in a car so can stay a short ways out.

I had one but it is filled up because of

a convention or Messe. Thanks in advance.

Frank: I will take a look and post this a.m.

Thanks a lot. I know Oktoberfest is going on. And also probably a convention and/or Messe. We are

spending our whole 17 days in Bayern. We have been

there many times before. I miss the Bier, Essen, und

Leute but not necessarily in that order. Thanks again. Frank

You mentioned Freising in another message. Their website has a list of hotels.

We stayed at the Hotel zur Gred and really liked its Gasthof atmosphere.

We have also had a good meal at the Hotel Bayerischerhof in Freising. I understand that Freising tends to fill up for Octoberfest. The Hotel Bayerischer does not have a website and may be available longer.

You might also use Hrs.com to look for a room in Landshut. It is about an hour from the airport using a train to Freising and a shuttlebus to the airport. You might be able to turn your car in Landshut and save a bit of money.

Good Luck, Gary

Hi, Frank!

There are several guesthouses in Hallbergmoo, just outside of the airprt that would fit your needs. It%26#39;s just an 8-10 minute drive, a small neighborhood, and reasonably priced.

I usually book through www.booking.com and have stayed at Thereisenhof the most often, but around Oktoberfest expect EVERYTHING to be expensive and booked...

Let me know if you need more info; I live in Garmisch-Partenkirchen about 90 minutes from the Munich airport.

Sorry; I didn%26#39;t check my post before posting (lesson learned)--it should read Hallbergmoos!

Thank you JenniferlPrice, for a specific Gasthof.

When you get a big list, it is hard to pick one out.

Let%26#39;s face it, some are great and some are not great.

People are sometimes reluctant to recommend a favorite because it will change because notoriety. A little added point: We are staying in Murnau earier in the week. Will drive into Garmisch-Partenkirchen as it is one of our favorite areas. Our whole trip is in Bayern (17 days). I love the Bier, Essen, und

die Leute. Thanks again. Frank

Excellent suggestion by Jennifer.. Halbergamoos an easily excessable stop along the S-Bahn (S8) route, which runs from the airport to the main train station and city center.

I forgot two things I also like in Bayern: add die Musik und die Dirndl.
