This is the last question I have about narrowing down my Honeymoon. We have a night to fill and are deciding whether to stay in G.P. or Fussen...the both look great and we are definitely interested in seeing Ludwig%26#39;s castles. We also would like to see Becthesgaden (spelling?), but we will be in Salzburg for three nights, so we may be able to drive from there. Anyway, which would you guys suggest if faced with the choice of these two places to stay?
These forums have been great for helping me plan for the rest of my trip, so please answer. Thanks.

hello bethw,
i would go to füssen! i personally think that füssen as a city is heavily underrated because everybody thinks of the ludwigs castles and sometimes do not realize how beautiful füssen itself is!
have fun - tom

If your main wish is seeing Ludwig%26#39;s palaces Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, definitely Füssen, as it is much closer. I agree, the town is indeed beautiful.

Your time is limited and you can%26#39;t see everything. Leave Garmisch-Partenkirchen for your next trip. You will want to come back to Bavaria for sure.
P.S. It%26#39;s Berchtesgaden.

We stayed in Fussen for 3 days so we could have time to see the castles and even take the drive over to Linderhof. We liked the little town and the place we stayed at was wonderful. We were reminded of the book Heidi with the scenery.
We also stayed in Saltzburg for 3 days which 2 would of been plenty. We went to an evening concert at the Fortress, took in Mirabelle, Mozarts residence and even took the train over to Herremchimsee(spelling) another of Ludwigs residences. We also did one of the Salt Mines which was fun.

Hi Bethw,
We loved Fuessen. Very charming old town just 5 minutes from Neuschwanstien and Hohenschwangau castles. Just 1 mile from these two castles is the Tegelberbahn. Great cable car ride and terrific Sommerrodelbahn (luge ride). We stayed twice (in %26#39;01 and %26#39;03) at the Hotel zum Hechten. Very nice hotel, great buffet breakfast, free parking plus they also have a good restaurant.

We also had a very nice dinner in a medieval atmosphere at the Gasthof Krone in the pedestrian zone.

Hi pja;
Please, could you post the link to the website to the luge ride?
We are planning our trip and will stay in Reutte. Any insights? Thanks,

Just check the links pja60 gave in his last answer. The links to the summer luge are there.

Hi Toronto Traveler22,
My only suggestion would be to consider staying in Fuessen instead of Reutte. Not too much going on in Reutte and Fuessen is a very charming old town with cobblestone lanes, etc.
If you%26#39;re staying in Fuessen or Reutte, you%26#39;re also not far from the Zugspitze cable car on the Austrian side. It is in Ehrwald, Austria.

The Wies Church is also not far (maybe 30 minutes north of Neuschwanstein) and is spectacular inside!!!

Hope this helps.
