Buying Train Tickets

I need help finding affordable train tickets, I live in Germany but anytime we plan a trip it ends up cheaper to drive because tickets are so expensive 150 euro and up one way.....

I%26#39;d like to take a few round trips out of Nuremburg to Venice, Prague, and Amsterdam.

Maybe Rome and Paris, but I%26#39;d rather fly - do you know of any airlines that fly out of Nuremburg with good prices to Rome and Paris?

Please fill me in - is there a secret to getting affordable train tickets in Europe??

Budget flights from Nuremberg

Nuremberg - Prague and return

Prag Spezial EUR 51,00 return

This offer is always available.

To the other cities you can get Europe Spezial or SparNight tickets. You can buy these tickets at earliest 89 days before departure. Latest 3 days before departure. But as they are limited in numbers the earlier the better your chances.

From: Nuremberg

or just

From: N

To: Amsterdam

To: Paris

To: Venezia Santa Lucia

With day time trains it will be easier to find specials

To: Verona

and buying domestic Italian tickets for the rest.

There are more offers. Have a look at the DB homepage.

DB offers a number of discounted fares.

As %26#39;abalada%26#39; has said, for International travel there are the Europa Spezial or SparNight tickets. These tickets can be purchased online for one-way or round-trip but the number is limited and they sell out quickly.

The DB also offers the Sparpries 25 and Sparspries 50 tickets for International travel and travel wihin Germany. These tickets are only for round-trip travel and can be purchased as little as 3 days in advance but again they are limited and are offen sold out several weeks in advance. bahn.de/db_irland/…sparprice.shtml

For travel within Germany the Länder-Tickets and Schönes Wochenende Ticket are always available for purchase online, from a ticket machine or agent. bahn.de/international/…swt.shtml

Railroad are like just airlines. If you walk up and wish to buy a ticket for travel today you will most likely have to pay full fare. For steeply discounted tickets you have to plan ahead.
