Life in Bremen

I%26#39;m an American considering attending Jacobs University Bremen, which means living in Bremen for the better part of three years. I was wondering if anyone has any information about life in Bremen that might help me make my decision? Some specific questions I have--how accessible is the rest of Europe, for trips on school breaks or even nearby cities for weekends if I%26#39;m not too busy? How is the local transportation? Is there enough there to keep me relatively busy (keep in mind that school will keep me plenty busy, too!) for a few years or will I be bored out of my mind? Do many people speak English (I%26#39;m certainly planning to learn German, but the school speaks English and I don%26#39;t speak any German as of right now)? How%26#39;s the weather? Is there a nice spring and fall (as I won%26#39;t be there in the summers and I doubt winter%26#39;s too lovely)? Anything else helpful?

Thank you!

Also forgot to ask--any general info about being an American in Germany that might be helpful?

Esp. Ryanair can be really cheap if you book in advance and don%26#39;t run into their extra fees.

Bremen is on similar latitude like Edmonten in Canada. Thus short days in winter and long ones in summer. Climate is however due the Gulf Stream a lot milder. Bremen climate
