Hi everyone,
I am off to Stuttgart for the Cannstatter Volksfest in October this year (2009!). We have booked flights and accomodation already. There will be 4 of us travelling there.
I went to Stuttgart in 2007 and Munich in 2008. In 2007 it was fairly easy to get into the big tents and join empty tables. However in Munich last year it was nearly impossible to get into tents. We only managed to get into one tent and that was at 9.30am on a Sunday morning on the day of departure.
I have a few questions for you kind people!
1. Do the tents fill up to capacity every night at the Volksfest?
2. When do reservations for the tents start generally each year?
3. A lot of the tents only seem to accept reservations for groups of over 8 people. Is it possible to reserve tables for 4 people?
Any advice on getting into the tents would be welcomed!

1. I believe from Thursday to Sunday nights the tents will be very full. After 4PM is when they start to be really filled.
2. I don%26#39;t know when they start, but if you go to www.cannstatter-volksfest.de you can make reservations.
3. Reservations are usually for larger groups. I guess you could inquire at the websites for each tent.
Although many tables are reserved, you are free to sit at them before the reservation time comes into effect.
