Hey everyone! My boyfriend (27) and I (25) won a trip to Berlin for March 20-24th 2009, can%26#39;t believe it! Anyways, I know very little about Berlin and I was hoping those of you that have been there could help us out with how to plan our short time there.
We arrive at 3pm on Friday and depart Tuesday morning and we are staying at the Intercontinental. We already have a previously booked tour for I think an under ground railway (sorry if I am totally off here) but otherwise we are free.
-What are some of the %26quot;must-see%26quot; attractions?
-Best museums?
-Would like to do a pub crawl, who%26#39;s the best, NewBerlin, Insiders?
-Should we buy the 72 hr welcome pass to get us around the city or is that not necessary?
-BF is a big soccer fan, any chance there is a game going on?
-Any other tips, advice you have to help us with a most memorable vacation?
Thank you in advance!

You%26#39;ll definitely need a transport pass of some kind. Berlin is spread out and it%26#39;s too big just to walk. The Berlin Welcome Card is useful as it includes some discount coupons to sights and maps.
Click on the %26quot;Things to Do%26quot; button on the left for a list. Also, since you have about a month before you leave, check out the local library or a bookstore for a guidebook. Google %26quot;Berlin tourist office%26quot; to get to their website. Lots of good information there.
Berlin has a number of excellent museums. My favorites include the Pergamon and the Technical museum. In the evenings, I like to wander around near Potsdamer Platz. There is a big shopping center nearby (the Arkaden) where you can get warm and dry out if the weather is cold and wet. On the lowest floor is a food court and a good grocery store. There is also a cinema that shows movies in their original languages and has an Imax theater (shows only in German there).
If the weather is good, the Hackescher Markt and Alexanderplatz areas can be entertaining. The TV tower is open until very late at night (look for discount coupon that comes with Berlin Welcome Card).

Depends in first place on your interests. Architecture, art, history etc.
With 3,5 days you won%26#39;t get very far on this.
Most visited museums are: Pergamon Museum, Altes Museum, German Historical Museum and the Jewish Museum Berlin.
E.g. if you%26#39;re a computer nerd you may want to see the Z1, the first ever computer (Deutsches Technik Museum Berlin). For others this is rather not a must see. And so on.
Best is too start with a walking tour. This way you%26#39;ll see the most important sights in central Berlin. And get a good introduction into the city.

You%26#39;ll need something covering local public transport. If you don%26#39;t qualify for discounts anways (e.g. as students), the Berlin Welcome Card is a good deal covering public transport and giving discounts for a number of attractions.

Hertha is playing this weekend in Stuttgart, not at home. Maybe some club in a lower league. However than not in the Olympic Stadium which is an attraction on its own. You can still go there for a tour.
