Munich Airport

This trip we will not be going into Munich but rather spending the afternoon and evening at or near the airport. Can you suggest anything close by to see--and recommend places for dinner (German!). Thank you!

Freising.

20 minutes by bus from the airport.

Nice Bavarian town. Has the oldest brewery on the planet (Weihenstephan).

For dinner in Freising, we liked the restaurants at the Hotel zur Gred and the Hotel Bayerischerhof. The

Hotel zur Gred is on Bahnhofstrasse on the way into town from the train station (10 minute walk). The shuttle bus that you can catch to Freising goes to the train station.

The Hotel Bayersicherhof is at Untere Hauptstrasse 3 right in town. It is another 5 minutes walk beyond the zur Gred.

In addition to Freising, we liked Erding. Very nice old town about 20 minutes from the airport.
