We will be in Cologne late Mai. Would like to find a hotel near the Dom, 3 star preferred. We%26#39;ll have a car, so parking nearby is necessary. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My husband and I really enjoyed the Coellner Hof. It is about a 5 min. walk from the Dom. This is a beautiful, older hotel that is all about old world elegance and modern comfort. Great rooms with large beds and large bathrooms. And don%26#39;t even get me started on the breakfast buffet. It was absolutely perfect. Price when we were there was 75 € per night. This of course might be different now. I was really impressed with this hotel, and at the time was working in the hospitality branch, so that is saying something. It was all about the little touches, the decor, the care, that just made me go, THIS is what it means to be a hotel.

Thank you Bornheimggirl! Frankfurt...I have 2 great friends in Frankfurt- classic/antique radio guys. We 3 share this hobby. My wife is from Busum am Nordsee... so we get over each year. A few years ago we stayed at a nice (3 star I%26#39;m sure) hotel that was just off the front steps of the Dom, about 1 block at the most (West). But I cannot remember the name of it to save my life!! Vielen dank und alles gute! frank.

I think there is one there called %26quot;Hotel am Dom%26quot;, the %26quot;Paulaner%26quot; restaurant is on the ground floor and it is right behind the Dom, but there might be other little ones in the area. I hardly ever pay attention to the names. There is also one called %26quot;Miramar%26quot; that is around the corner.
Hope to see you back in Frankfurt sometime soon.

3 star Guennewig Kommerz Hotel is very handy. Rates vary due to what%26#39;s going on in Cologne and how full the hotel is. Don%26#39;t pay too much because there are plenty of hotels in the area. It%26#39;s outside the back door of the train station. It%26#39;s orange so you can%26#39;t miss it. To get to the Dom, go into the station. Take the escalator up at track one and you are at the Dom! Very simple.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Domstern in December and loved it. Small hotel with a great staff. It is located just on the other side of the train station from the Dom and they mention that parking is available. The rooms were nice and clean and a standard size for a european hotel. The breakfast buffet is quite nice and every morning the owners provide info on what is going on in Cologne. By the way, if you can don%26#39;t miss Aachen. It%26#39;s about 30 minutes from Cologne on the Belgium border. Adorable little town.

Most sincere thanks to all who responded with helpful advice! I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll be making reservations at one of them. YES, we will be driving from Boppard on the Rhine to Cologne, but will detour to Aachen and to Margraten Holland to see the U.S. Military Cemetery there... 2 days before memorial day. The 9000 graves are even more impressive than normally with special flowers etc. Thanks all!! tourop.
