Go with the Friedberger Warte. It is quite new, and sits right next to one of the old guard towers named the Friedberger Warte and it has a great restaurant inside. With the bus #30, you are only a 10 min. ride from downtown Frankfurt - Konstablerwache. If you stay in Wiesbaden, it is quite a bit longer trip into Frankfurt. Mornings and evenings you get a lot of traffic jams and a train takes at least 30 min. to come from Wiesbaden into Frankfurt.

family + august = vacation (or?)

If you have a car I would pick a smaller town in the region.

You have also had a previous question about serviced apartments. If you can live without much service you could rent a vacation apartment. That%26#39;s what German families do in first place.

Here some in Mainz and suburbs.

Albeit I would tend towards smaller towns, e.g. into the Taunus upland.

You can contact also the local tourist offices with your wishes (e.g. apartment for 5 persons, with breakfast, some English spoken). But don%26#39;t ask for A/C. No local has here A/C. Even if it will be hot (no guarantee on this) it will cool down during the night. Compared to Saudi Arabia it won%26#39;t get hot anyway.

Another idea would be a family room at one of the youth hostels in a castle in the area.

E.g. Burg Breuberg in the Odenwald

djh-hessen.de/jh/…index.php

or Schloss Diez in the Lahn valley

(opened in 2006, all rooms with shower/WC ensuite)

Albalada - that%26#39;s a great idea! We%26#39;re looking for the same sort of accommodation this summer, spending two nights in the Frankfurt area as a stop-over on the way to Egypt. How difficult is it to get to/from either Diez/Limburg or Breuberg from Frankfurt? Our flight out from Frankfurt is at 10:00 am.
