Hello,
I was wondering if any of you out there can help me determine what a good price is for airfare to Germany. My girlfriend and I are heading there in May for a wedding and are hoping to make this an affordable trip. I am looking for a non stop flight in May from the Midwest to Germany or Amsterdam.
Any figures tips or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I can%26#39;t help you with prices, but flying with KLM through Amsterdam is usually a good option, and you can easily connect to another flight to many German cities. If you fly directly to an airport in Germany, you can have your on-going train travel inexpensively included as part of your airline ticket. Depending on the airlines, there may be only one train you%26#39;re allowed to ride, but some offer less restrictive on-going train travel.

You probably need to start with a website like orbitz or Kayak.com for research. I usually buy from the airline but need to research various airlines and departure points. We use Orbitz.
Sometimes it is not cheaper to fly direct. We are in Salt Lake City and our daughter is in Denver. We considered driving to Denver and then all flying direct to Frankfurt. It was more to fly direct from Denver than from SLC with a stop in Denver on the same airline. Makes no sense but there it is.
Late May will likely be more that early May.
Good Luck, Gary

They have great prices from Minneapolis thru April 2 only $600 each, however they go up from there. I know by June it was around $900-1000 each so good luck.

Yes, ticket prices often don%26#39;t make much sense. Last Fall I flew KLM from Stuttgart to Cleveland via Amsterdam and Detroit. All flights except Stuttgart-Amsterdam and return were on Northwest planes, yet the Northwest airfare was several hundred dollars more. And some of those price checking engines are horrible, I always was denied the cheapest flights that were given on one, and bookibng directly with the airlines turned out to be cheapest.
Gary, another good reason to book directly from Salt Lake City besides the price, with a connecting on-going flight, the airlines can be liable for an overnight stay if your plane is late arriving in Denver. I%26#39;m sure that it would have been well worth having an on-going bus trip from Chicago placed on our airline ticket no matter what the cost on my last trip to Chicago, it would have saved paying a $200 hotel bill because the plane was 6 hours late with bus service ending for the night minutes before we landed.
Another option is to check your local Sunday newspaper travel pages for advertised inexpensive flights. I%26#39;ve had good success with some of them.
