Hi, I was reading through posts and someone had recommended this website for hotel bookings. I will be laying over in Frankfurt for 2 days (1/25-27) during business travel for touring this city for a couple days.
I have a couple questions. First, it shows 3 different Frankfurt areas to choose from, Hessen and Brandenburg being 2 of them. Can you explain the difference between the 2 areas? Never been here before, don%26#39;t know anything about the city or location. Hotels in Brandenburg seem cheaper, but father away from the airport (which I guess is fine because they seem near a train station and I guess I could just take the train from the airport), Hessen hotels seem nearer to the airport, but more expensive. Where are these 2 areas in relation to being within walking distance to many of the cities main attractions?
Also, I noticed that when I searched on www.hrs.com for hotels for Frankfurt for today, they are much much cheaper than if I search for them 2 weeks from now when I will be there. Is there something going on in Frankfurt on 1/26 that make it more expensive, or do the hotels on this site just get cheaper towards the date of your stay? Thanks very much, I%26#39;ll probably have some more questions!

There are 2 cities Frankfurt in Germany
Frankfurt am Main in the state Hessen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt
Frankfurt an der Oder in the state Brandenburg
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt_%28Oder%29
%26gt; Where are these 2 areas in relation to being within walking distance to many of the cities main attractions?
Both cities are some 600 kilometers apart from each other.
%26gt; , they are much much cheaper than if I search for them 2 weeks from now when I will be there.
Prices go up in Frankfurt if there will be trade fairs or major conferences.

Oh, thank you! Which city is where the main Frankfurt Airport is located, hessen or Brandenburg?

It%26#39;s Hesse:

Again, neither Brandenburg nor Hesse in this case are cities. They%26#39;re German states like Pennsylvania or Delaware are in the US of A.
Ideal parts of Frankfurt am Main (Hesse) are the areas around the Hilton or Westin Grand hotels, either one of those or e.g. the NH Hotel Frankfurt Centrum.
The Messe (fairground) area (e.g. the Marriott or Maritim) is nice and save but pretty far from the actual city center with only limited choices of restaurants, bars etc.
Hotels that are in the main train station area (Hauptbahnhof) are very central in location but that%26#39;s also the area of the red light district. So keep that in mind...

Thanks Andreas,
Basically, I%26#39;ll be arriving in Frankfurt and have approx. 52 hours to myself. Trying to figure out what to do. Seems like a lot of the hotels are more expensive in 2 weeks and mostly full, maybe there%26#39;s a convention going on? I%26#39;ve also read several side trips that people recommend. But what%26#39;s I%26#39;m struggling with is, I don%26#39;t speak German and have never been to Germany, so how hard would it be for someone like me to arrive in Frankfurt and rent a car and figure out how to drive to one of these small towns or castles or drive along the Rhine, I%26#39;m thinking that it would be pretty hard and that I would screw something up!
I would not mind maybe just getting a hotel in Frankfurt, but then I still have to figure out how to take a train/bus from the airport and find my hotel that I reserve a room at and and then get around the city for a couple days.
I%26#39;ve been researching this for the past couple days, but it%26#39;s not as easy to do.
So, that being said, this is the best place I can find for advise for my trip. If any of you could help me out, and make some recommendations on what I can/should do for my 2 days in Frankfurt, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Does anyone know anything about hrs.com? I%26#39;m going to Paris in a couple weeks and just found the hotel I%26#39;m booked in much cheaper at their site. I want to be sure its reputable before I cancel my current reservation.
Thanks for any help.

I have used them quite a few times no problems ,unlike some they do not take a prepayment.

HRS is a Cologne based hotel booking service/agency.
Estimated market share is 50% in Europe.
So far I made only good experiences with their service.
|||
We always use HRS.com. they really do have good prices and I like the ease of using the site, finding the neighborhood I like, the little maps, the price selections, etc.

HRS is a 100% daughter of the Deutsche Bahn as far as I know.
