Romantic Road - What to do?!

Hello. I%26#39;m Rafael.

My fiancee and I are going on a trip to Germany in April, however we%26#39;re not quite sure of what to do concerning the Romantic Road.

We%26#39;re leaving Frankfurt early morning on a rental car and staying for three nights in Rothenburg.

However we want to go to Heidelberg too, but we%26#39;ve not decided if we should leave Frankfurt and go straight to Rothenburg thru the Romantic road and visit Heidelberg next morning and on the way back visit the small villages or if we should go from Frankfurt to Rothenburgh thru Heidelbergh.

Any advices?

Heidelberg IMO is not as visit-worthy as the towns near Rothenburg that you might visit on daytrips (Bamberg, Würzburg, Nuremberg, Weikersheim, Schwäbisch Hall, Nördlingen.) But if you go to Heidelberg, do travel along the Neckar River and make a stop in pretty Bad Wimpfen. Alternatively, look into Michelstadt and Miltenberg on the way back to Frankfurt.
