I am scheduled to spend 9 hours in Frankfurt Hahn airport next Saturday week, waiting for a connecting flight! Can anyone recommend a local village/town to spend to day exploring or getting some non airport food, and that is easily reacheable by bus/taxi

I would also suggest Trier. Hourly shuttle buses. Travel time is 1 hour.
The closer interesting places, e.g. Bernkastel-Kuel are not connected well by public transport from Hahn at all.

Hahn airport is a 100 min bus ride from Frankfurt. Also, Hahn it is a very quiet place with not much to do. What is good is there are tourist info booths right in the arrivals bldg. Also, bus stops are right there too. To just wait there at hahn for 9 hrs. would be a drag it is a small airport with a few resterants and shops
