My husband and I (in our late 50%26#39;s) and daughters, 24 and 18 are leaving Cape Town on the 16/12/09 and plan to return to Cape Town about 3 weeks later. We are spending Christmas in Lingen and would then like go skiing in Austria for about a week. Apart from visitng friends in Aachen, Frankfurt and Monaco would like to visit some interesting cities/towns with our girls any suggestion?

... like all locals do. It would be cheaper, easier to find something and less crowded if you go skiing before Christmas.
Between Aachen and Frankfurt you can fit it Cologne and the Middle Rhine Valley.

Over New Year Berlin would be a good idea. Assign enough time for Berlin (3-4 days at least) and book well in advance.
