if you are interested in getting to know %26quot;real%26quot; Germans or %26quot;real inhabitants%26quot; of this country and want to get from A to B really cheap, this is a brilliant way. Predominantly safer than hitch-hiking and cheaper than buses/trains.

This comes at a price, as your potential drivers are people of all walks of life. You are as likely to meet a great music professor making a living on playing on funerals, as a lunatic dental technician whose driving skills can make your bad habit fingernail chewing a lifesaving necessity (Both happend to me!). Also you need someone driving down your route, so no fixed schedules, be flexible!
