Berlin or Munich

Just a disclaimer: I know the cities are very different but I would just like some imput:

I am a female in my early 20s that will be traveling alone the end of Sept. I was planning on spending a few days in Munich beore heading up to Copenhagen. but now I am torn between skipping Munich and going to Berlin instead. I did want to attend Oktoberfest, but now I am wondering if it is something a single traveller should do. Also I know the hotels are a little more pricey and fill up very quickly at that time. So I am just looking for some personal opinions on which they would prefer. Also a little background on me: I will be coming from London, and I enjoy history, architecture, etc very much. I didn%26#39;t choose to visit Germany just because of the beer LOL.

As someone who has traveled a good deal as a single, big crowds are not a draw for me. I enjoy Munich but have no interest at all in Octoberfest with the inflated prices and crowds.

Berlin is a city with much to offer and IMO a bit of a edge, which I enjoy. Hotels there can be a real bargain and the history is significant. Architecture is a big contrast between the old and very new.

In your situation this trip, I would choose Berlin.

I too, have little desire to visit Oktoberfest, though Munich is lovely. Berlin is such a great city and you will not regret going there either. It will certainly cost you a lot less to stay in Berlin than Munich.

I agree, I would choose Berlin too. If you enjoy history, architecture and such, both places are great but Berlin I think is more attractive for younger people. Also you are right, hotel prices are incredible expensive during Oktoberfest which I would want to avoid.

I am also not that fond of Oktoberfest itself and also don%26#39;t think it will be much fun going by yourself.

And travel from Berlin to Copenhagen will be less time than from Munich.

I%26#39;m glad you all leaned toward Berlin. For all the reasons stated (from the history to the prices) I think Ill most likely choose Berlin now.
