As part of a trip round Europe early next year, I want to travel by train from Innsbruck to Brussels in one day. The Deutsche Bahn website says it is necessary to change in Munich and Frankfurt, but I cannot find any cheap through fares on this route – does anyone know if there are any?
If not, I am considering buying two %26#39;Europa-Spezial%26#39; tickets - one from Innsbruck to a German station and another from the same German station to Brussels. Is this possible?
If so, which German station should I buy tickets to/from?
I could, for example, buy one ticket from Innsbruck to Munich (where I have to change trains) and one from Munich to Brussels. However, if the train from Innsbruck is late arriving in Munich and I miss my train to Frankfurt, would I have to buy a new ticket from Munich? This seems to me to be possible because %26#39;Europa-Spezial%26#39; tickets have to be used on specific trains and my journey from Munich starts on a separate ticket.
Alternatively, can I avoid this potential problem by buying tickets to/from a German station where my train stops but where I do not actually have to change trains. This would mean that I cannot miss the train at the station where my new ticket starts because I am already on it! Can I do this?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Buy one %26quot;Europa-Spezial Belgien%26quot; ticket either from Mittenwald or Kufstein to Brussels (Zuid/Midi).
Albeit Kufstein is in Austria it counts also as a German station.

Yes. That%26#39;s why I suggested Mittenwald or Kufstein.
The route via Mittenwald is more scenic. But also somewhat slower. Only regional trains on this route. While %26quot;Europa-Spezial%26quot; tickets are only good for the booked IC/EC or ICE trains, they are somewhat flexible on regional trains. On the regional trains part of the route you can use any train running on your travel date.
Innsbruck to Mittenwald is EUR 7,00.
VVT (local public transport network of the Austrian state Tyrol) tariff applies.

Hello! I want to go from Brussels to Innsbruck in February and I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how much would it cost if I choose the option presented above!
Thank you!
