Great forum - thanks to all the regulars and others for their advice which has been helpful planning our long weekend stay in December -
We are arriving late night at SXF and wish to travel by taxi to our accommodation at Potsdamer Platz. Could anyone give us an idea of taxi cost for the journey?
Thank you

Easyjet%26#39;s magazine says 30€ for taxi to city centre and I would think that%26#39;s nearer the mark. Last week a taxi from Etap Hortel Potsdamer Platz (on Anhalter strasse) to Jannowitzbrücke S-Bahn station cost me over 7.50€ and it%26#39;s a relatively short distance whereas Schönefeld is a LONG way out. Not sure if charge is more late at night too (certainly is in BCN).

Thank you - we will use public transport whilst there but opting for taxi when we arrive at SXF

im going back for the third time this year , i too arrived late (22.30hrs) and used the s bahn 2.10 euro everytime. save your taxi money buzze the public transport is brilliant and easy to use.

Maybe I will re-think especially as the journey times are nearly the same. However I suspect a taxi will require minimal concentration and therefore be a less stressful wat to start our break. ???

Yes you%26#39;re probably right about less stressful. Plus if plane%26#39;s delayed it%26#39;ll be even later and on my last trip my case didn%26#39;t arrive so that meant even more time at airport waiting to report it (arrived the next day luckily).
Another point about Schönefeld is that the rail station is not right by the terminal whereas taxi rank is. You have to pull your cases about 300 metres or so then ramp or steps down to tunnel and up to platform. Make sure it%26#39;s the right platform too! You%26#39;d also have to change S-Bahn lines at Friedrichstrasse.

- Lynda you have convinced me -defintely a taxi on arrival then public transport during the rest of our stay.
thanks to all

Public transport to Central Berlin from Schoenefeld Airport is cheaper and faster if you don%26#39;t have a lot in the way of bags.
You walk out of the terminal building, walk a short way, and the Berlin Airport Express Train (faster than the S-bahn) which leaves every half hour. Make sure you have bought a ticket that is for Zones ABC. (about €3)
