interail vs eurail

Hi all, I am just wonderinga few things. I am an Australian living in Germany now for 6 months on a working holiday visa. I am just about to leave and start travelling full time and am not sure what to do. I know I am eligible for Inter rail, but I would much prefer to use Eurail as I can get a 3 month pass (not offered by Inter rail) and also its cheaper for me. If you have a eurail pass do the train inpectors check you passport for residency (and therefore notice I am using the wrong pass), or does this just happen with Inter rail?

Thanks to anyone who can give me any information.

Cherie :-)

The ticket inspectors rarely look at or ask for your passport. On my last three vacations (all using ten day railpasses) I was only asked for my passport once. And that was the most recent trip and I was asked by the ticket collector on an RB train. I guess he was bored or just a twit.

You would be more likely to have to prove that you qualify to purchase a Inter Rail pass.

My question is not so much about %26#39;Am I eligible%26#39; but more about which one of the two is the best %26#39;bargain%26#39;, if such thing exists with rail compagnies?

Eurail seems more of a great deal as it is valid for three months, but I am planning to visit Poland and it is not part of the deal. Also, I am leaving Europe in mid-June, so a three month pass might not really be worth it, especially as I am based in London where a Eurail pass is not valid.

I just don%26#39;t know what to think anymore and would like some thoughts, if anyone ever experienced such a hassle.

Cheers!
