Rog: Try the local German fare at these places:
Augustiner Restaurant
Ratskeller
Viktualienmarkt food stands (Lunch %26amp; Bier)
Movenpick (Many freshly cooked items / walk thru)
Dallmayr (Wunderbar store and market)
Lowenbrau Keller
The average price of lunch is about 7 to 10 EUR
Average for a nice, sit-down dinner and 5% tip, perhaps 11 to 17 EUR.

Hi Roger,
Happy birthday. Great place to celebrate it. You wont go hungry in Munich and the prices are very good. The Ratskeller is a stunning location, all the beer halls do good hearty German food and then you have plenty of other restaurants around the city centre. You will see a couple of branches of Maredo (Spelling could be wrong) and watch for signs for Asado. Both do steaks.
Regards,
Supervanman.

Yes indeed. I absolutely love the food, atmosphere, and service at Der Ratskeller. I go at least twice per visit to Munchen.

I agree regarding Ratskeller, a must visit.
Most dishes good, vienna schnitzel is fabulous, lots of beef %26amp; sausage dishes that are excellent. But a great atmosphere and surroundings.
I%26#39;d avoid steak restaurants, you can get those in Belfast, in Belfast you can%26#39;t get Bavarian fare.
Haxenbauer just 200 yds from Ratskeller is also a good experience to try the roast pork knuckle, crispy crackling (Schweinshaxen), they don%26#39;t don%26#39;t do that very well in Ratskeller. So if you fancy that, don%26#39;t order it in Ratskeller, move up the street. If you have 2 nights and try those two places, you won%26#39;t be disapponted.
Hackerhouse down Sendlinger Strasse is close by, also typical food served very well.
Viktualienmarkt superb %26#39;fast food%26#39; bavarian style.
Stoofer
This is making me hungry :-(
