We%26#39;re still trying to work out our 10 night Honeymoon in late October and we are seriously considering these two destinations. We were pretty much set on a Bavaria vacation, but my fiance really loves beaches and has been looking strongly into Croatia. We%26#39;ve never been to Europe, but we have traveled to numerous islands throughout the Caribbean every year for the past 8 years. We are 100% set on doing Europe for our honeymoon, but we%26#39;re having problems deciding where. We are looking for a nice, relaxing vacation, either touring Bavaria and seeing all of the natural beauty and historic sights or spending our time lounging in Dubrovnik and probably visiting some of the surrounding islands. As far as Dubrovnik goes, can anyone comment on how the weather and crowds will be in mid to late October? Also, for anyone who has visited either or both of these places, please give your vote as to which we should choose.... I%26#39;ve been posting on the forums for a couple of weeks now and while we have narrowed our choices, we are still stuck with which to choose!

These two options are entirely different. Croatia is not known for its beaches, at least not sandy beaches. The only one I saw on a cruise last year was a small one on the island of Mjlet. South of Dubrovnik, outside of Budva, in Montenegro there are nice sandy beaches. Other than visiting the old towns of Dubrovnik and Split, the appeal of Croatia are its picturesque and laid back islands, like Hvar (resort), Korcula (old town), Mjlet (national park). These island are accessible by boat from Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik in early October should be great, as far as tourists and the weather are concerned.
Bavaria, in early October is also great. There you may want to pick amall town near a major railroad line and either relax in the town, and/or take day trips by train.
When you read my postings, it looks like I am pushing Prien. (Check %26quot;Search%26quot; or %26quot;more about treplow). However, it really is good place to hang out.
A couple of other places: Millstatt on the Millstaetter See, south of Salzburg (Austria) is another elightful spot. Has the advantage that the lake is still warm, because it is south of the Alps.
Also, Zell am See (Ausria) may appeal to you. Again, enter %26quot;Zell am See%26quot; in %26quot;Search%26quot; and read up on the tons of stuff there.
