A 50+ couple who like museums and gardens and the like are arriving late afternoon in August by plane from Athens and are getting the train to Strasbourg about 24 hours later. We either have the night in A frankfurt hotel and sightsee in Frankfurt, or get the train towards (not necessarilily in a straight line) Strasbourg around the same time the next day. We are not that fussed on big cities so are thinking perhaps somewhere small but close. Any ideas?

Another option is to stay in one of the lovely neighborhoods of Frankfurt instead of the city center. Try looking at Westend, Sachsenhausen, or Bornheim. If you like museums and gardening, Frankfurt might be just the place for you. There are 40 museums here and a visit to the Palmengarten might be very interesting for you. Or a visit to the Chines Garden in Bornheim is also nice. Exploring Frankfurt can be fun and it really isn%26#39;t that huge - less than 700,000. There are a lot of historical sites here to see too, if that interests you. Some of my favorite museums are the -Judengasse Museum, Historical Museum, Archaeological Museum, Communication Museum, the Leather Museum, the Städel Art gallery, and the Musueum of Applied Arts.
